Training Session

We recently hosted a training session in partnership with grassroots community groups that provided essential knowledge about local governance and decision-making processes. We aimed to increase local residents’ awareness and understanding of vital aspects of local council operations.

Event Highlights

Council Governance Structures: Participants engaged in discussions about the organisational structures of local councils, gaining insights into how decisions are made.
Key Roles: The roles of council leaders, cabinet members, and MPs were explored, shedding light on their responsibilities within the community.
Executive Leadership: Attendees learned about the Chief Executive and their executive team, understanding their influence on local policies and initiatives.
Corporate Planning: We discussed how councils develop corporate plans and the implications these plans have for grassroots communities.
Policy Development: Participants gained insight into the formulation of council policies and strategies and how these address community needs.
Consultation Engagement: The importance of community engagement in policy and strategy consultations was emphasised, empowering residents to voice their opinions.
Accessing Local Representatives: Practical guidance was provided on how to connect with local councillors when needed.
